The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 90 and Airway Drive.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, the Crestview teen was driving a Volkswagen Beetle and traveling eastbound in the inside lane of U.S. 90 at about 9 a.m. Tuesday. As she approached the intersection, a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 26-year-old man from Pace, entered the intersection from Airway Drive traveling northbound and pulled into the path of the Beetle.
The Beetle attempted to swerve into the outside lane to avoid a collision, but the vehicles collided within the intersection. After the impact, the Beetle came to rest facing east in the outside eastbound lane just past the intersection. The Corolla came to rest facing west in the eastbound travel lanes, straddling both the inside and outside lanes.
Both drivers, along with all passengers from both vehicles, were transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. The man from Pace sustained serious injuries and was stabilized at the hospital.
The news release did not include the names of the drivers, nor the number of passengers involved in the accident.
