Republican Nathan Boyles easily defeated Democrat Dondre Wise to win Tuesday’s special general election for the District 3 State Representative seat.
Boyles
Boyles lives in Holt, co-owns Adams Sanitation and previously served 12 years on the Okaloosa County Commission.
Wise, of Pensacola, is a businessman and U.S. Navy veteran.
Wise
The voter turnout was low for the special general election, with just 12,188 people across the district (which includes most of Santa Rosa County and part of Okaloosa County) casting a ballot. Boyles received 8,175 votes, or 67.07% of the vote, and Wise received 4,013 votes, or 32.93%.
Republican and former District 3 State Rep. Joel Rudman, of Navarre, resigned from the seat in January to unsuccessfully run for former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz’s congressional seat.
