Easter arrives in Laurel Hill

| Brian Hughes
The morning sun had just started peeking over the trees in Gene Clary Park as more than 30 residents representing at least five Laurel Hill area churches gathered to celebrate the Risen Lord during the small north county community’s traditional Easter Sunrise Service.
Brother David Williams of the Laurel Hill Assembly of God church delivers the message at the community’s Easter sunrise service in Gene Clary Park. The police officer in the front row is Garrett McVay, a graduate of Laurel Hill School who is now a patrolman for the city of Florala, Alabama. He arrived right as the service began, coming directly from getting off the night shift. His grandfather is the Rev. Mike McVay, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Laurel Hill.
