Knights support Crestview’s baby box

At Monday’s Crestview City Council meeting, members of the Knights of Columbus Council 7968 of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church donated $4,500 to help cover the costs of the city’s Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Station 1.

The baby box is a climate-controlled safety device that legally permits a mother in crisis to surrender her unwanted newborn safely, securely, and anonymously. Crestview officials conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the box in October.

Pictured with the replica check are (L-R) Knights Chancellor and Life Director Dan Lesh, Mayor J.B. Whitten, baby box-initiative leader and former City Councilor Cynthia Brown, and Grand Knight Marty Mears.

Behind the dais stand (L-R) City Councilors Dusty Allison, Ryan Bullard, Shannon Hayes, Brandon Frost and Doug Capps, City Clerk Maryanne Girard, City Manager Tim Bolduc, and City Attorney Jon Holloway.
