The upcoming June 6 festival proves there’s more to local arts and heritage demonstrations than meets the eye.
For almost 20 years the spacious lawns of the Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church have welcomed fans of visual and performing arts, history and heritage organizations, and cottage food specialists for the annual festival that showcases what the church’s retired pastor called “God’s many artistic gifts.”
For this year’s festival, organizers welcome back performers Neal Kelly, who does vocals and acoustic guitar, and sax player Caleb Williams and his jazz band. In between, members of the Crestview History Museum’s Living History Corps will demonstrate vintage weapons with blank fire.
Community organizations will include the Baker Block Museum and the Crestview Area Sister City Program, and the Laurel Hill Little Free Library’s book sale. Members of Boy Scout Troop 773 will set up a scout camp and grill hotdogs and hamburgers for festival attendees. Needless to say, scrumptious Scout Cobbler will share the menu. Joining the food lineup, Ethan and Mrs. Edwards will be offering homemade fried chicken dinners.
