‘A Taste of the Panhandle’ will celebrate area farms
Organized by the Okaloosa County Farm Bureau, the event is scheduled to take place on Friday, Nov. 14 along a portion of Main Street in Crestview.
Proceeds from the occasion will benefit the Future Farmers of America youth programs at Baker School and Laurel Hill School, Molly Peavy, administrative assistant at the Okaloosa County Farm Bureau and assistant to the Florida Farm Bureau Federation Board, said today.
The nonprofit Future Farmers of America organization offers middle and high school classes that promote and support agricultural education.
Peavy said “A Taste of the Panhandle” will take place on Main Street between the Okaloosa County Courthouse and Oakdale Avenue.
“In our VIP section, our four-course meal begins with a social hour from 5:30-6:30 p.m. serving appetizers followed by a course of soup, entree, and dessert,” organizers said in an event announcement. “Indulge in fresh ingredients sourced straight from local farms to your table. Immerse yourself in the rich culinary heritage of the Panhandle region.”
During the event, live music will be provided by the Highway 95A Band.

At a free educational section north of the VIP area, people will be able to see new and antique tractors, visit educational tables manned by FFA and 4-H members, Master Gardeners, and representatives of other agriculture organizations, visit vendors and food trucks, and support the local FFA programs through donations. This section will be open from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Attendees of “A Taste of the Panhandle” are encouraged to wear “cowboy cocktail” attire, which Peavy said is “kind of dressy but kind of western as well.”
Sales of early bird VIP tickets, which cost $116.15 apiece, end this Friday, before sales of VIP tickets, at $144.70 per person, begin. VIP tickets at the door will cost $173.23 per person.
